India Global 6 G Forum launched by Dr Malcolm Johnson, Dy Secy General, ITU Geneva on 16th October, 2019 at New Delhi during 16th AGM of ITU APT and Curtain Raiser on 5G, , as a joint initiative of ITU-APT, TEMA, CMAI Association of India.

6G will accelerate the digitalization of economies and society, moving the world significantly closer to becoming a truly global and digital community.

5G went live in 2018 and the rollout of commercial networks has been accelerating. Despite the promises of advanced use cases such as industrial IoT and driverless cars, all the commercial services currently have to offer is enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), meaning service providers have relied on fast internet access and high data speed as the key selling points. This has led technology experts to claim what we have now is not real 5G.

India Global 6G Forum

CMAI/TEMA announces formation of India Global 6G Forum with the objectives “ Drive and work for development of 6 G related research, standards in dedicated way and coordinate with global bodies and industry, aiming for society that to be data-driven, enabled by near instant, unlimited wireless connectivity, empowering youth generation and leading to Make in India”

CMAI/TEMA are inspired by two happenings to launch the “Indian Global 6G Forum”

Prof Kamakoti, IIT Madras and member National Security Advisory Board statement on 11.7.2019 that “While the Government should take care to maintain existing Indian infrastructure such as BSNL and MTNL, it is also time for India to start planning for a 6G network.”

Donald Trump, USA President statement on 21.2.2019:

I want 5G, and even 6G, technology in the United States as soon as possible. It is far more powerful, faster, and smarter than the current standard. American companies must step up their efforts, or get left behind. There is no reason that we should be lagging behind on.........
